Railfan Vantage Point 1:
Leavenworth Landing Park - Near the old train station, this
park provides a good view of trains for the railfan. Located at Esplanade St. and Cherokee St., the park has
public parking next to the tracks and a walking trail between the Missouri River and the tracks.
South of this is where the Chicago Great Western tracks broke off from Missouri Pacific to cross the river and
head toward Iowa. The bridge is gone and it is difficult to locate any of the former
trackage.
Train
Frequency: Freight - 30-40 a day
