Photos coming soon

Railfan Vantage Point 1:
Leavenworth Landing Park
- Near the old train station, this park provides a good view of trains for the railfan. Located at Esplanade St. and Cherokee St., the park has public parking next to the tracks and a walking trail between the Missouri River and the tracks.
South of this is where the Chicago Great Western tracks broke off from Missouri Pacific to cross the river and head toward Iowa. The bridge is gone and it is difficult to locate any of the former trackage.

Train Frequency:
Freight - 30-40 a day

What You'll See:
Union Pacific - A great place to see northbound freights including empty coal trains, stack trains, intermodal and manifest trains. Southbound trains are rare.

Security Concerns:
Almost none. The area enjoys a small-town atmosphere and is well lighted at night. The parking area is patrolled by the Leavenworth Police
